JOURNAL ENTRIES
Young_Leader: Sabrina McCarron Journal_EntryHaving just read Sean and Niall’s account of our weekend in New York I felt obliged to also write my experience!! Well as was said in Sean’s delightful and informative journal page we stayed in the most fancy ‘ international’ accomodation surrounded by a variety of all sorts…from Inga the Swiss to Dorn the Israelite!! When we arrived in Washington and departed from our comfy bus which smelt of sweet flowers the whole way there..I think Niall and Jenny will agree with me ..the back seat beside the toilet was definelty the best place to sit for a whole 4 hours..we were sooo smart!!! Anyway after smuggling our tins of beer into our posh Chelsea accomodation we departed to find a suave bar near by..and by god did we not find the most happening place in New York!!! There were models, Latin swingers and shakers and I thinkl I saw a stunning red hed from Sweeden snogging about..I mean walking about!! I think Paddy is the one to ask about that one!!! Oh Inga Inga……..
Young_Leader: Sabrina McCarron Journal_EntryThe weekend has as usual left me exhausted but I have to say I really enjoyed Saturday night, thanks Bronagh and Jenny for having us and making it a good night!! It was my first major night since I arrived here (lets just say the drinking laws here are not in my favour) and I am still on the road to recovery. Anyhow I am going to Boston this weekend which I am really looking forward to, however the nine hour drive is not very appealing. Work is going well and I have plenty of work to keep me busy!! I met an enviromental lawyer on Friday who has kindly invited me to go to a high profile meeting tomorrow along with other lawyers and engineers. The weather is just pathetic and i just can’t get over how much it has been raining..it feels like home (well not quite!!)
Young_Leader: Sabrina McCarron Journal_EntryThe last two days have really been something else. First of all on Wednesday the speakers at the Emerald Isle who shared their experiences to us really opened my eyes to the other side of Washington DC. I learnt so much from them in such a short time and having never met them before. I think we all learnt that you should never give up on yourself and always believe that we are all here for a reason and we should never put ourselves down as we are all unique and have our own strengths and weaknesses. Also to me these people had an inner strength and determination for refom whether it be for themselves or others that could only be admired and remembered in a positive light. The tour of the secret service was excellent and I really enjoyed the insight into what the agents do and have done in the past. The lie detector was impressive and the story of the criminal with no fingertips was fascinating. Now that we know the big men perhaps we could carry out some investigation work into getting Mr President himself over for the conference….then again maybe not!!! I am going to meet an environmental attorney today so I have to go and make myself presentable….Oh by the way “good luck Derry”on sunday.

Young_Leader: Sabrina McCarron Journal_EntryHi everyone, I thought it was about time I wrote in my journal to say what a fantastic time I am having in Washington. I have seen so much already however there is still so much to do and only 5 weeks left!! I was at Capital Hill for the 4th July where I saw the concert with my host mum and her brother… the fireworks were unbelieveable and everyone was in the party mood!!! As for work at the EPA evertything has been good so far. I will be working on a project on recent surveys carried out by the EPA on customer interests and how to improve their web sight. I also would like to begin my own project on enviromenatal law which could help me with my studies back at Queens. I may also be getting the opportunity to work along side an environmental lawyer one day a week. Tonight is the session at Nanny O’Brien’s which was a good laugh last week!!! I am also helping out on the conference committee for when we all return home so I am keeping busy here in the U.S and trying to work on my tan at the same time which has not been going so well …I am just still the beautiful snow white that I was when I left home…Ah well who’s complaining…I’m here aren’t I !!!
