Nearly 1 week down. Have seen most of the many sights of DC and meet some very
interesting people including a talk by Mark Shields. A quote from Shields,”A contest
between Gore and Bradlee is like a special Olympics for the charismatically
impaired.”

Haven’t much time to chat as I am having lunch today with my mentor, you all remember
Oakley Brookes. From the general consensus I seem to be the only intern in the House that
is working all God’s hours. My host mum took myself and Sinead to a crab house last night.
What can I say, Sinead is a natural at ripping the crabs apart and removing every last
piece of crab meat!! Think I’ll stick with chicken myself. Looking forward to the weekend
to catch up on my beauty sleep.

It is Friday again – yippee!! Today all my buddies at Dundee Uni graduate I on the
other hand will celebrate my graduation in DC with my new found friends. Went to a
baseball game on Wed in Baltimore – Orioles against the Blue Jays. Was good but didn’t
realise that the game would last 3 & 1/2 hours!! Working life has got a lot better but
I am a bit fed up doing all the constiuient letters on US tax issues – dull. No wonder I
am asleep by lunchtime! Please Simon – NO MORE EMAILS!!! Update bulletin next week!

I am suffering from third degree burns -well maybe it is just sun burn but it hurts bigtime and doesn’t exactly look the best!
DC United on Sat wasn’t as good as the baseball. Still have loads of work to do.
Can’t believe it is actually cold & rainy here today, thankfully the sun is long gone.
