“Hello
all. My name is Brenda McConville, and I have come all the way from Co.
Armagh to be in Washington with the Young Leaders Program which is such
a great privilege. I am a second year student at the University of
Ulster in Jordanstown studying Communication Studies. I am really
excited about the program as not only do I get the chance to work in
Congress on Capitol Hill, but I get the experience of working as a team
with the group, meeting lots of people and experiencing American
culture. For me this program offers me the opportunity of a lifetime and
the chance to make new friends all in one.”

Well folks,
Its kind of been a while since i done this, but hey better late than never!!!
Another weekend has passed and time just goes too fast in this country. This weekend has been really class!! On Saturday we spent all day with the kids from project Children playing football and rounders. It was upon such activities that i discovered that Bronagh was not only a classy Lady but a star soccer player too. What a woman!! (Adam seems to think so) we then procceded to attend a soccer match DC united versus Newcastle, which was excellent as i had never been to a soccer match before. The whole atmosphere was such a buzz that members of our group could hardly contain themselves from joining in the chanting, yet some of the chanting from certian female members resembled that of tennage groupees rather than football fans, I think the sassy ladys know what im talking about!! On the way home we attended a Mackell kariokie session on a bus.John-boy had all the american women singing. He seems to have a way with the women. Cant understand it myself!! Saturday nite was great craic, we went to Adams Morgan to a place called Commom Share. Some members of the group were not impressed with the decor, but been from south armagh, this would be considered a top class spot. It even had running water (from the roof)Im actually suuprised that some people actually noticed the decor, what with all the group bonding that was going on. Something i have yet to join in on. Sunday was a really lovely day, we went to Anns house for a barbecue and it was a relaxing end to a busy week. Her host family were so ggod to invite us.
Work is still great, Brdgette my intern coordinator is the best you could ask for and shes convinced she irish, but im not so sure!!! On thursday im going to a international relations committee meeting about the introduction of the resolution on the Patten report, i cant wait for that!!
Any ways, im gona head on here, cause its time i was heading towards the young leaders office!!
Thats all for now.

Hello folks,
After a full month of peer pressure from the walking time bomb Barry, I have finally given in and decided to join in the group therapy!!!Seriously though things here could not be better, despite been roaming around from 5.30 am this morning, Im still feeling pretty Fresh What about that Paul!!This whole month has been full of some absolutly brilliant. What can i say, I have never had such a packed month. What with a new family working on the hill for Richard Neal, Which i love plus all the exta cirricular activities (non of which include attening bars or colin and Leos Party)This week I met Gerry Adams at the Hill during a international committee meeting with the congressmen. For me that was pretty overwhelming. We all got a photo taken with Big Gerry afterwords, but the person who was
most impressed with him had to be Adam, who has talked about nothing since. On Wednesday nite, we attended a conference that was possibly the highlight of my trip, we were introduced to Members from different communities within DC, giving us an idea of what”the otherside” of what Washington was like. Although their stories were not so bright, these people were full of Passion and determination, that was driven by leadership, i felt that their stories could give anyone hope.
